Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment increased an estimated 2.3% in the 12 months ending July 2025, adding 40,300 jobs statewide. The state’s job count now stands at 1,763,600. Utah’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 3.3%, with about 60,500 Utahns unemployed. The June unemployment rate was unrevised at 3.2%. The national unemployment rate for July was 4.2%.

Ben Crabb, chief economist with the Department of Workforce Services, said the labor market remains strong even with a modest increase in unemployment.
